Emergency Water Supply (EWS) began its operations in 2005, initially collaborating with Norfolk Southern to provide support during Hurricane Katrina on the Gulf Coast. At that time, we transformed a car trailer into a laundry and shower unit, featuring six washers and dryers, along with a three-stall shower area.
Since then, our services have evolved to include a fully equipped base camp capable of supporting up to 4,500 firefighting personnel. These base camps are strategically established across Northern California and other western states to assist Cal Fire and other local and state agencies. In addition to this, we collaborate with California Conservation Camps to set up temporary sleeping areas, provide cooling centers for PG&E, deliver tens of thousands of gallons of potable water for Cal-Trans, and arrange setups for private venues. Additionally, we work with US Forest Service to provide sleeping quarters, generators, lighting, potable and grey water services, and much more.
